Menopause + CBT + Hypnotherapy
Do you suffer from hot flushes, night sweats, low mood or anxiety related to the menopause? If so, then you’re not alone. The menopause, defined as the final period, is a natural part of ageing for women and, for some, can be quite a challenging time.
In the UK, according to the NHS, it usually occurs between the ages of 45 and 55, although some women may of course experience it earlier, or later than that. The phase leading up to the final period, known as the peri-menopause, can be a time of great transition in terms of what’s happening hormonally and physically and can be unsettling for many women as they experience the effects of these bodily changes. A number of different symptoms can be experienced, with up to 70% of women experiencing hot flushes and sweats. Other symptoms include mood changes, disturbed sleep, anxiety and irritability.
The good news is that Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Hypnotherapy can help to relieve most of these symptoms, showing consistent evidence for a clinically significant reduction of hot flushes, night sweats and over all well-being. As a Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapist I use targeted techniques, which can help you regain control over your body, reduce the extent of hot flushes, promote relaxation and reduce levels of stress and anxiety.
I’ve written a blog post where I delve into more detail around the research here.
